Ford Motor Recalls 91,000 Cars Over Fuel Pumps & Dangerous Windows

Ford issued a recall Wednesday for more than 91,000 vehicles in North America due to a fuel pump issue the automaker said could potentially cause some vehicles to stall.

The fuel pump control module is at risk of failing, which Ford said in the recall notice could cause the engine to not start or “stall without warning while driving.”

– Ford Motor Company is issuing two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Details are as follows:

Ford issues safety recall for certain 2013-15 Ford and Lincoln vehicles to replace fuel pump control module. Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 86,000 2013-15 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles with 3.5-liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection engines, as well as Ford Police Interceptor sedans to replace fuel pump control modules.

In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump control module could fail, which may cause an engine to not start or stall. In some cases, the engine could stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

The recall covers only a subset of certain cars within a model family, including the Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT SUVs and Ford Police Interceptor sedans, according to a recall notice posted on Ford’s website.

All of the impacted vehicles have model years between 2013 and 2015, along with 3.5-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engines.

In addition, Ford said it would also replace the fuel injection pumps on some 2015-2016 Ford Transit cans. While the company said it is not aware of any injuries or crashes associated with the fuel pump issue, they will notify affected customers who need to bring in their vehicles for a free repair.
